Moving forward in acquiring my MCNE designation through RENI has helped keep me focused on the more critical aspects of successful negotiation in my business. Sometimes we are tempted as agents to get off point and focus on the other sides positions vs. the motivational drivers behind those positions which can result in negotiations becoming difficult or dissolving altogether. In an age where members of the public have great access to information and statistics, time tested and experienced negotiation skills are something you just can’t look up and learn quickly. Skill in negotiation is easily one of the most valuable assets we can offer to prospective clients. Pursuing the MCNE has served as a reminder to always think critically and collaboratively on a number of contributing factors that increase the chances I can do a great job representing my clients interests. The course is by no means a final destination when it comes to the complexities of negotiation in real estate, however it does touch on many proven strategies to focus on and build on to become a more effective negotiator for your clients.
