Finding Peace in Real Estate

Are you longing for a feeling of inner peace?

This time of year, many REALTORS® feel fatigued from the ever-present pressures in real estate.  The constant sense that we need to do more, know more, and be more often overlaid with a feeling of inner conflict around what it really means to be a real estate agent.

I remember early in my career in real estate sales longing for a vacation where I could truly rest and restore.  I dreamed of a week with no car, no phone, no responsibilities.  Interestingly, when I gained enough success to go on vacations designed for this, I couldn’t disconnect.    It was an inner world problem, and an outer world solution didn’t solve it.

If you are craving some inner peace this holiday season, you aren’t alone.

While being surrounded by family and friends, a trip to the spa or a beach front villa might sound like the perfect retreat, inner peace isn’t something you can find externally; it’s something you cultivate within yourself.    While these appealing outer world environments might help you turn off some of your real estate thoughts, expecting a quick fix is wildly optimistic.

Inner peace comes to us when we acknowledge and accept our thoughts and emotions, live fully in the present, and have a deep sense of wellbeing; physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I believe that much of the popular real estate culture interferes with our innate ability to find peace.  When we let go of some of the contrived conflict and dissonance, our career in real estate can feed content, joy and calm.

If this resonates with you, I invite you take the time to holiday season to reconnect with what matters to you.  Let go of some of the need to be busy, engage in some meaningful conversations with people in your community and take time to visit your inner world.

This holiday season, give yourself and your loved ones the gift of your presence.

“Many people think excitement is happiness…. But when you are excited you are not peaceful. True happiness is based on peace.”
