Are you ready for back to school and back to work?

This final summer post before we get all serious again invites you to reflect on how you integrate with real estate with three simple inquiries.  I am not looking answers – just a chance for you to pause and reflect on some important stuff.

1. I believe we have one of the greatest jobs in the world.  We get to engage in a meaningful way with people during some of their most complex life transitions.   We have the freedom to choose how we engage with the business.  We have the opportunity to learn a massively diverse skillset and if we are good, we get handsomely rewarded.

Real Estate done right offers us a lifestyle that is the envy of many.

Inquiry:  What does real estate done right mean to you?   Is it more money, more balance, more service, more connection with people, or something else?

    2. The world is changing in so many ways it’s hard to know what to think anymore.

Between the economic uncertainty, political unrest, environmental events and AI changing everything from our workflow to how we communicate with each other and even how we think, our work just became more important and harder.  While you may be feeling like you are carrying more than one person should be reasonable expected to, so too are the clients you serve carrying burdens known and unknown.

I’ve been speaking with lots of leaders in real estate this past few weeks and I am hearing a similar story.  Things happen quickly.   Deals are getting more complex.  Negotiations are taking more time.   The influx of content is overwhelming, and the sales pitch of AI training and outsourced lead generation is daunting.   It’s become so easy to create content that everyone is throwing a lot of it around.  Yes, AI does some cool stuff.  It eliminates many of the mundane tasks, vastly accelerates our workflow and makes our emails more effective.

AI makes work efficient and fast, but human intelligence determines whether the work is wise.

Inquiry: What is wise work in the context of real estate

    3. By now, most of you have had a client who openly shares that they are using AI as their advisor for real estate.   They arrive with a list of AI generated question to ask you at the listing presentation.  They tell you how you should frame the offer in the negotiations.  They make a low ball offer and have an organized defense for the price.   This is just the beginning.  In time, we will be lucky to share the role of advisor with our AI counterparts.

But real estate is a unique in so many ways.  Properties, people and situations vary in ways that are both nuanced and significant.  It is this uniqueness that gives us the opportunity to bring real value to our clients.

Clarity about our value proposition has never been mattered more.

Inquiry: From the clients’ perspective, what can we do that brings them significant value?

Enjoy the long weekend and together let’s master the skills required to master the emerging reality.
