Chatting with Mike DelPrete this week following his insightful talk at the Inman Pandemonium Conference early August, I was reassured that he acknowledges that the human connection skills are increasingly essential for successful real estate transactions.

Mike is a real estate tech specialist.  If you don’t follow Mike, you should.  I connected with Mike early in his career and as he has become the most sought-after consultant in US real estate circles, he still finds a few moments for me when it matters.   Right now, it matters. 

I have been going deep on AI research.  Not on how to write prompts to create more content for social media, but on positioning myself and my clients for the inevitable shifts that this new technology will bring.  

Mike’s recent talk isolates technology’s toughest challenge in real estate.  The final mile.  And the final mile is where you, the human agent, connects and negotiates.  I highly recommend you watch this 21-minute talk.  While it’s US centric, the concepts apply universally.  If you are in a hurry, the final mile part starts at 17:00. 

If you want to be a part of what’s coming, build the skill stack that matters.  For real estate, that is your ability to connect, interact, collaborate, build trust and problem solve.  It requires a mindset of curiosity, the resiliency to learn new perspectives, and the courage to fail.  While the AREN* and the PREN** courses specialize in these specific skills, I continue to adapt them to align with the emerging world.
