The Advantage of Ethics

What if being honest and ethical gave you a leg up on your competition and made it easier and more enjoyable to build a profitable and meaningful business that you could feel proud of?

What if the things we’ve been taught about sales, lead generation, conversions and closing are keeping us from creating the businesses and the lives we really want?

Ethics is more than being honest. It’s being courageous in executing your moral duty to do the right thing. No matter what.

In real estate, this means putting your client’s interest above your own. It means taking the responsibility to develop a high level of knowledge and skill to protect and serve your client. It means having the self-awareness to set your own agenda aside and it means having the mental clarity to see situations objectively.

None of this is easy but it ought to be essential. What we do matters. Helping people make the right decision about housing makes their lives better. Carelessly pushing and coercing them towards a transaction that benefits the agent more than them, can cause stress, financial hardship, and undesirable outcomes. Heck, in this market it often means they don’t get a house at all, since unskilled agents don’t have a clue how to negotiation in these unprecedented times.

And yes, gaining the skills that are critical to your client’s success, is a large part of being ethical.

The world is developing a culture of pretence where people think they are great chefs because they watch cooking shows.  While pretending to know something might not hurt too badly in the kitchen, it doesn’t belong in complex legal transactions that have significant impact on people’s lives.

I am excited to be building a new learning platform that will give REALTORS® and other sales professionals permission and a pathway to be excellent at what they do and thrive because being good it is the surest way to the top.   Look for new courses late spring and in the meantime, complete your CNE and MCNE (Course Schedule) and/or take the CNE REFRESH self paced course.
